BBC Radio 4: You and Yours

The time taken to get a grant of probate is coming down but not for everyone. The issue of probate delays has not gone away.
If you apply online and don’t make mistakes it can be no more than three weeks but if there are complications and it is conducted on paper it’ll take a lot longer.
Why is that?
Partner, Jo Summers TEP and member of STEP, was interviewed on BBC Radio 4’s You and Yours to give her view, together with some helpful advice on ways to avoid the potential for probate delays.
Speaking at the start of the interview (5.50 mins in), she said:
“It does seem that there is a very big distinction now between the digital applications which are going through quickly and the probates that are done on paper which seem to be going through to a smaller number of experts to deal with.
“The question I guess is are there enough experts at the Probate Registry to deal with them?”
