Probate and Estate Administration

Professional and efficient probate and estate administration.

People place their trust in us to provide a professional and efficient probate and estate administration service, at a time of heightened emotion.

Made up of a team of knowledgeable, empathetic lawyers, Jurit is experienced in administering estates ranging in size and complexity from small, non-taxable estates to multi-million-pound estates, which may comprise of assets both in the UK and abroad.

We do this in as efficient a way as possible, from finding out what assets there are in an estate, and completing the necessary inheritance tax forms, to applying for grant of probate – whether there is a will or intestacy. Once probate is granted we can administer estates on behalf of our clients.

Our people, your team

Our team is made up of specialist probate solicitors and paralegals, all of whom are highly experienced in dealing with both straightforward and complex probate and estate administration matters, including international estates. We take pride in being transparent about our fees and, unlike many other firms, do not charge based on a percentage value of the estate.
We provide a complete end-to-end probate service which can be tailored for your needs – from establishing the extent of an estate and reporting it to HMRC, to making sure the correct inheritance tax is paid.

We will assist in applying for the correct grant (probate or letters of administration) to enable the personal representatives to call in the assets in the estate and make sure they reach the intended beneficiaries.

Throughout the process, we will ensure that the relevant tax reliefs and inheritance tax allowances are taken into account, to avoid any unnecessary overpayment.

How we help

Depending on which parts of the probate process you require assistance with, we can ‘mix and match’ our services to give you the support you need – from full estate administration, to a retained advisory service.

When someone inherits, we can support the beneficiaries as part of the administration process, with their personal inheritance tax (IHT) planning, helping to save IHT for their own family, through the generations.

We can also make use of Deeds of Variation to rearrange estates to make it more tax efficient or to assist with the family’s estate planning.

  • Initial advice on the probate process itself and what to expect
  • Establishing the extent of the estate
  • Deeds of Variation
  • Reporting the estate to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC)
  • Dealing with HMRC on inheritance tax (IHT), capital gains tax (CGT) and income tax matters
  • Ensuring the correct IHT is paid

Pricing Guidelines

What is more, our fees are based solely on time spent – we will never charge a percentage of the estate in question.

We will aim to agree a fixed fee with you in advance. If that is not possible, we will agree a fee estimate and will let you know if we think we are going to go over that estimate.

Invoices are not raised until we have received the Grant of Probate (or Letters of Administration).
