Whatever might happen about a post-EU trade deal, now is the time to think about being ready.
While Whitehall and Brussels continue talking about a deal (or, indeed, a 'no deal') the reality for business is that it can't put off preparing for whatever might happen from 1 January 2021. Of course, that might mean making preparations for a variety of outcomes from the current trade talks - but to do nothing at this stage is not a tactic we would advise. The risks of not being ready are not something that any business should contemplate.
Given that there are now fewer than 100 days to the end of the transition stage – when Britain leaves the Single Market and Customs Union – the Government has published a range of information to help businesses prepare for a variety of outcomes.
