Jurit joins IBSA & Rathbones discussion on the challenges facing internationally mobile entrepreneurs.
Jurit Partner Jeremy Glover will join a panel of specialists at an upcoming International Business Structuring Association (IBSA) event exploring the challenges facing US entrepreneurs and executives relocating to the UK.
Taking place in London on Thursday 29 October, the discussion will examine how personal tax, immigration, corporate structuring and employee incentives interact when business owners and their senior teams move across borders.
Jeremy will contribute his expertise in tax and incentives, helping to explore the employment and equity considerations that can arise when US executives relocate to the UK.
One relocation, multiple challenges
The session follows a detailed case study involving Zac, a US entrepreneur who moves to London for three to five years to establish a European headquarters for his technology business. His COO, CTO and CFO accompany him.
Through their experiences, the panel will explore:
- Immigration: identifying suitable visa routes for the founder and his senior team.
- UK and US personal tax: navigating residence rules, the UK’s Foreign Income and Gains regime and potential double taxation.
- Corporate and international tax: considering permanent establishment risks, transfer pricing and the implications of US tax rules.
- Employment and equity incentives: understanding how existing US share options and restricted stock units are treated when executives become subject to UK tax.
The discussion will highlight why decisions about relocation, business expansion and remuneration need coordinated advice from the outset. The panel also plans to consider relevant announcements from the Autumn Budget scheduled for the preceding day.
Jeremy will join Roy Saunders, Founder and Chairman of the IBSA Club, alongside Mark Bibby of Rathbones, Emily Walton of S&W, John Kiely of Howard Kennedy and Conor Taylor of Alvarez & Marsal.
