Summary
Jurit was appointed by PCOT Legal based in the United Arab Emirates, to provide technology and innovation advice in support of its client – a UAE bank looking to promote disruption in the market.
Challenge
The bank required legal advice to support the setting up of an innovative virtual procurement facility.
The digital facility would allow selected customers of the bank to go out to tender online, to procure products and services and would be delivered via a SaaS provider.
How we helped
- The software to power the service was via an American SaaS (Software as a Service) cloud provider
- As an American company operating in the Middle East through an office based in London, via a regional branch, this presented an array of legal complexities to consider
- The SaaS provider had a series of documents stipulating the various legal and due diligence requirements of our client which needed to be in place prior to them using the platform
- This included certain documentation which would need to be drafted to acknowledge them as a provider of the facility – and dealing with data protection, operational, intellectual property and liability considerations
- Having spent time in the UAE and drawing on the expertise of our data protection team, Anthony Garrod reviewed the various SaaS documents, how they would overlap and work, and advised PCOT Legal on what its client would need to implement
Result
- By providing trusted counsel advising on English law contracts in an international context, our experience of the tech and online trading sector and familiarity with cross-border transactions in a cross-border environment, ensured that our client, PCOT Legal, could proactively advise their client on next step
Testimonial
We were delighted to work with Jurit and with Anthony in particular. They provided just what we needed in a fast evolving market – that hard to find balance between appreciating the legal issues and environment on the one hand and the practical real world challenges of implementation on the other hand.
“PCOT Legal is a boutique law firm. Working with Jurit allowed us to expand the range of our services. Our client was pleased because it had the same interface and received a better product. We will definitely work with them again.
