About Louise

She is passionate about employment law and is determined that it should work for both employer and employee.

Louise assists employers with contracts, policies, procedures and employee communications as well as strategies for dealing with staff issues as wide ranging as restructuring, redundancy, TUPE, underperformance, misconduct, absence or when employees raise grievances or blow the whistle.

She has a particular interest in cases involving Pregnancy and Maternity Discrimination and arising from rights afforded to parents and carers.

Louise sits on the Legislation and Policy Committee of the Employment Lawyers Association, where she co-ordinates responses to government consultations on forthcoming changes. As chair of its Brexit subcommittee, Louise is responsible for co-ordinating the Employment Lawyers’ Association’s response to the Retained EU Law Bill.

Where problems lead to disputes, Louise can help with solutions whether they be exit packages or the robust defence of a claim.

Louise helps individuals with Settlement Agreements or by advising on Contracts of Employment and Consultancy Contracts.

She has dealt with Employment Tribunal claims on behalf of both employees and employers involving almost all aspects of Employment Law including Unfair Dismissal, Constructive Dismissal, Discrimination and Harassment, Whistleblowing, TUPE, Redundancy, Breach of Contract, Holiday Pay and Deductions from Wages. She has also represented clients in the civil courts with employment claims arising out of breach of contract and director duties.

She has represented clients in the Employment Appeal Tribunal and Court of Appeal as well as the lower courts.

As a Tribunal advocate, Louise is well placed to give clients early advice on the prospect of success at Tribunal and the merits or otherwise of settlement, as well as ensuring cases are prepared in a way to best present the evidence to the Tribunal Judge.

Louise is also able to advise both employers and employees on the enforcement of restrictive covenants designed to prevent employees poaching clients, prospects or staff.

She provides pro bono advice under the ELIPS scheme at London Central Employment Tribunal, assists LGBTQ+ charity AKT and is Legal Ambassador for campaigning organisation Parents and Carers in the Performing Arts.
